ABOUT ME – I'm Barbara Lynne, a retired event planner and native Texan. I have lived in Austin for 25 years. This is my web site. I'm developing this site for two reasons. First, even after retiring, I spend an average three hours every day answering phone calls and emails from event planners, friends, family and former clients. All want insider information about Austin and Texas vacations. Now, instead of repeating everything for the millionth time, I just refer them to this web site where all of their questions are answered. Secondly, I want you to use this site as much as you want free of charge. The only thing I ask; if you use my site often, come to rely on my reviews, opinions, insights and Austin travel secrets, then please consider adopting a pet or making a donation to the Austin Humane Society (AHS). Click here to go to their web page (opens in a new window). The AHS is a no kill shelter saving the lives of thousands of dogs and cats every year for the last 54 years. A qualified non-profit organization relying 100% on community donations and events for funding. This is a great organization operated by caring people doing work that benefits our fuzzy friends and community. Please consider giving them as much assistance as your time and budget allows.

Every family in Texas has their bluebonnet family portraits. This is my favorite because after being abused and abandoned, Ginger was finally looking happy. Photo/Barbara Lynne
As a former event planner, Austin resident and native Texan, I am uniquely qualified to be your on-line Austin, Texas travel reference. I'm familiar with all things Austin. Restaurants, hotels, clubs, music scene, outdoor activities and of course, convention services. This site is currently under construction. Bookmark it for future reference as more pages are added often. This site will be an all inclusive Austin travel encyclopedia. From my favorite little known fishing holes to where the musicians go to wind down after the show. I will also review all of Austin's popular attractions. From our world class museums to the finest park and preserve system of any city in America. You'll find my reviews different and more in-depth than the usual travel guides. I live here. I eat at the restaurants, hike the trails, drive the roads, golf the courses, boat the lakes, party at the clubs and attend the festivals.
My goal is to offer you an insider's view of Austin. Hopefully, after studying this site, you will be armed with enough valuable information and insider knowledge about Austin to travel with confidence, like a genuine Austinite. Austin is the best kept secret vacation destination in America. But don't take my word for it. You be the judge. I invite you to be my companion as we explore Austin and the enchanting Hill Country together. An email function will be installed shortly. I look forward to your comments, suggestions and personal Austin travel experiences. Hope to hear from y'all real soon. Barbara Lynne P.S. I do not accept advertising dollars from any company, service or product I review. My opinions are only influenced by my personal experience and reports from fellow event planners.

Sara looks like a cat, but was really an alien. She brought great joy to us thanks to Austin Humane Society. Photo/Barbara Lynne

Didn't get this one at the Humane Society. Found him passed out on the Courthouse lawn, flat on his back, wine bottle between his legs, clutching his guitar like a child holds his teddy bear. It was love at first sight. He sits, stays and has few accidents in the house. RD, my husband of 35 years. Glad I didn't have him neutered. Photo/Barbara Lynne
