Austin restaurants provide a gastronomic thrill ride. From real old time authentic Texas barbeque, the tastiest Tex Mex on Earth to comfort food that wraps its arms around you. We have it all. That's why the Wall Street Journal called Austin the "New Dining Destination."

Frankly there are more comprehensive guides on the Internet. My list is comprised of what I consider the best. The restaurants I visit frequently. I don't review restaurants I haven't eaten in or that for some reason I don't like. Just because a restaurant is not listed here does not mean you should avoid it. There are far more restaurants in Austin than I could possibly review. If you find a great one, let me know about it. I'll check it out!

Austin's Best Restaurants

When I'm craving a burger, Dirty Martin's is the best. For a steak or live lobster, Ruth's Chris Steak House is the best. For romance, I prefer the Four Season's TRIO. There are many best restaurants in Austin. It only depends on the food experience you desire and the price range you're looking for.

$ = under $10 including one drink, meal, tip and sales tax
$$ = $11-30
$$$ = $31-60
$$$$ = over $61

Use this as a guide only, it's not etched in stone. Besides, if you're like me and like to order lobster, it can really skew the price range!
