I golf Austin. My job required a lot of golf course schmoozing. Some of it at Bluebonnet Hill Golf Course. I've played 136 complete rounds of golf in the last 15 years. And have been asked to speed up my game only once. Here.

I enjoy this link style course. I like wide open fairways. The course is also of moderate difficulty that makes for a good score.

Designed by Jeff Brauer and opened in 1991. Par 72 and a short 6,500 yards. Hole 12 is a par 5, 488 yard water guarded three level green requiring touch and accuracy.

Greens are a challenge unto themselves. Multiple levels, gentle to dramatic slopes.

I guess this would be a good experience if no one from the staff rushed you to complete a hole. I've read similar reviews airing the same complaint. Maybe the good folks here could benefit from listening.

AUSTIN TRAVEL TIP: Every avid golfer should visit Golfsmith at Hwy. 360 and 183 junction. Joe's Crab Shack and the Arboretum shops are across from Golfsmith. Good time golf shopping.

LOCATED: About 13 miles east and north of downtown Austin.

From downtown, take I-35 North to 290 East. Turn right (east) on Hwy. 290. Follow it seven miles to Decker Lane. Turn right, Bluebonnet Hill Golf Course is 1.5 miles south on Decker Ln.

FEES: $17 -29 without a cart, $26 – 38 with a cart. Twilight, Super Twilight, Senior, Student and Junior discounts.

GOLF COURSE & FACILITIES: 18 hole course, large practice facility (driving, chipping, sand trap & putting), 4 teaching pros, pro shop.

RESTAURANT/BAR: Snack bar.
