Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller were featured artists at the 1957 supper club version of the Continental. The '60s saw the Continental become Austin's first burlesque club. They even advertised go-go dancers.

This Texas music legend got its cred as a top line Austin music venue in the '70s featuring up and coming local artists that themselves would become legends.

Stevie Ray Vaughan, Cobras, Butthole Surfers, Joe Ely, LeRoi Brothers, Tailgators, Evan Johns, WC Clark, Mavericks, Rose Flores and none other than super bad D chord man himself, Link Wray. Want more?! Rockabilly originals, Ronnie “Rockin' Bones” Dawson and Wanda “Let's Have A Party” Jackson.

All of this in a club that is right out of late '50s lore and decor. Every time I go to the Continental Club I resist the urge to put on bobby socks, saddle shoes and a felt poodle skirt.

The staff is one of the most efficient and friendly of all Austin clubs.

Your experience will be a magical one if you have never been there. It's like stepping into a time warp. The stale smell of beer even works.

I offer only kudos to this Austin live music mecca. Texas music's most hallowed ground.
