Unfairly Overshadowed by Fazio Golf Cousres

You could start your own country on the size of these greens. So big you need a driver to make your putt chip shot. Huge. One hundred foot putts.

Crenshaw designed an old style course using its natural terrain to create a comfortable feel. You don't have to be a pro to score well on this course. I've played here three times and beat my average each time. Thank you wide fairways.

Probably the least popular of the Barton Creek Resort golf courses. Not as scenic, difficult or varied as Fazio Foothills or Fazio Canyons golf courses. But I like this course better. It plays more like an Austin golf course than its flashier cousins.

Because the course is routed through natural terrain, you get a real feel here. A state of the art traditional old style golf course. That's not an oxymoron, but a very accurate description.

You play nature at Crenshaw as well as the design. I can't imagine anyone having a complaint. Nature abounds here. Respects the game, not a theme park style course with man made water falls and meticulous transplanted landscape. This Barton Creek Resort course is a favorite.

However, my one complaint is I wish Barton Creek Resort & Spa would open its courses, or at least this one, to non-member, non-guest, daily fee use.

LOCATED: About ten miles west of downtown Austin. Take Bee Caves Rd. to Barton Creek Blvd. and turn left. Go two miles and turn left on Barton Club Dr. which goes to the Resort complex. Go to the Main Resort Entrance (third entrance on the left) for guest check-in.
