Or forgo the room service, walk out the hotel, cross the side street and eat at Pappadeaux Cajun Seafood restaurant. If you're not in the mood for seafood, Pappasito's is a quality Mexican restaurant on the other side of the Doubletree hotel (same side of the street). Service at this hotel is usually excellent even though I've read some rant reviews saying otherwise. Make note, the Doubletree Austin charges $9.95 per day for wireless high speed Internet. Plus they charge for the buffet breakfast, $8 per day for self parking and $14 per day for valet parking. No pets.

Ask for a room in the back of the hotel as noise from IH-35 and the frontage roads may be a problem. Try one of the margaritas at the hotel's lounge. Very good. Austin travel pro's and insiders choose this hotel because it's located in a great spot for north, south, east, west travel. It's not a hustle and bustle hotel. Great for kids and business. On the downside, some of the rooms need an update of decor. Some are weary and worn. I also think the Doubletree Austin is overpriced. Look for an on-line reservation at a discounted rate. Be sure to confirm your reservation for late arrival because they have a reputation for overbooking. Business center, fitness center, pool, cafe, lounge and great meeting space round out the amenities. LOCATION: Twelve miles NW of Austin Bergstrom International Airport. Just off IH-35 at Hwy. 290.
