Wynton Marsalis knows jazz. He's performed at every meaningful jazz venue in America and Europe. He named the Elephant Room one of the Top 10 Jazz Venues in the US according to USA Today.

Open since 1991, this club is a cozy and intimate basement venue. You can expect great jazz here.

Monday through Friday they open at 4 pm. Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm. Live music everyday of the week. Shows begin at approximately 9:30 pm.

Dim lighting, great bar and a choice of up front or back of room seating. This is jazz from the front door to the back of the stage. Atmosphere is so thick you can cut it with a knife.

The only complaint I can come up with is not enough top national acts booked. They consistently bring the best jazz available in the Austin music scene but more name national acts would be welcome by the rabidly loyal patrons of this Austin live music jewel.

Cool atmosphere, out of sight, killer, vibby and that's just a description of the venue. Wait until you hear the music in this exceptional underrated Austin live music club.

TICKETS: There is usually no charge for weekdays. Weekends there is a (small) cover charge at the door.

Check their web site for current calendar. Look for Happy Hour Bands (6 and 8 pm), they schedule them every other week or so. An early show and bargain to boot!
