EMO'S Quickly Becoming
an Austin Music Classic

Emo's has multiple stages and an outside patio. This is not Maggie Mae's. Music here is alternative.

The sheer quantity of music offered guarantees you will see great and not so great bands. Johnny Cash played here in 1994. The adulation he received from the audience was unexpected and almost brought ol' John to tears.

They also draw diversified styles of music at their SXSW showcases. Hip-hop to hell bent punk. All under the same roof.

Most Austin clubs are known for offering specific genres of music. This one offers several including punk, indie, alternative, garage and electronica.

Black Angels, Males of State, The Warlocks, Rooney, are what you get here.

Can get crowded, athletic and wild. As Austin venues go, probably not a place the older set would enjoy unless there was a specific band they wanted to see.

I like it because it lives on the edge just like the music they book. Cover charge is necessary and so is cost of drinks to consistently bring this much music to their two famous stages.

This club is weird, which makes it an Austin music classic.
