Municipal golf courses should not be as tough as this. If you are in the late beginner or early intermediate skill range you will find out why this course has been referred to as the HUMBLER. Lush fairways are narrow and tree lined. Creeks cross the course, blind shots, narrow holes and hard doglegs. Forest Creek comes into play on 11 of these 18 challenging holes. The long par 4s will have you cursing designer Dick Phelps. The 15 hole at Forest Creek is Bogey Alley. Par 5 and 472 yards. Holes 16 - 18 will test your accuracy, power and management skills. Forest Creek Golf Club says “fun for the beginner and challenging for the advanced golfer.” This is not a starter course and I think this course could make a true beginner quit out of frustration. Certainly not as difficult as Ram Rock at Horseshoe Bay. But a real handful for many who don't have the power, finesse and pinpoint accuracy this 47 sand trap laden course requires. This is a daunting and fun filled course for those who are not advanced golfers. Making Forest Creek Golf Club a real golf adventure. This is a course where tee off and approach are vitally important. Getting the ball to the green is more difficult than navigating relatively easy greens. Great value, challenging course. The only drawback is the not so convenient Round Rock location. A lot of public golf courses could learn a great deal by emulating the Forest Creek Country Club. Bottom Line: Don't miss it!! AUSTIN TRAVEL TIP: After your game, go see the Round Rock Express (AAA Houston Astros) at Dell Diamond. The ballpark was rated the #1 Baseball Park in America.
