One hundred twenty-four rooms, well traveled Hampton Inn Austin needs some modernization and upgrading of furniture and amenities to get my vote of confidence. I have read terrible rants about this place on various Austin travel websites.

Believe me this Hampton Inn is not as bad as some would have you believe. Matter of fact, it's not a bad hotel at all. It is a Hampton Inn.

Guest rooms are spartan and clean. If not clean, as
sometimes happens at Hampton, ask for a new room immediately.

Amenities are minimal but the pool did seem larger than average and inviting. The TVs work most of the time and the bathrooms are above average as well. Pretty quiet. Not a lot of activity. Complimentary breakfast and beverage.

You could spend more money and do a lot worse. But you can also spend the same money and do better.

If you need to be in the northwest part of town, then Hampton Inn Austin NW may just the ticket. Peak traffic times in this area are ridiculous. But if you need to get to one of the businesses there, most are within a couple miles allowing you to miss most of the worst rush hour traffic.

As Austin hotels go, this one is right down the middle average. Subtract points for location if you plan on spending a lot of time downtown. Mo-Pac is not the Autobahn.

LOCATED: Hampton Inn Austin NW is approximately 18 miles NW of the airport in the NW/Arboretum area (the area surrounding the intersections of highways 360, 183 and Mo-Pac).

FROM THE AIRPORT: Turn left on Hwy. 71 (west) (Ben White Blvd) for 2 miles. Take 183 north for 13 miles, take Loop 1 (Mo-Pac) Exit. Stay on access road to the second stop light, Braker Lane. The hotel is located behind the Hampton Inn on the northwest corner of Mo-Pac and Braker Lane.

Also available is the evening Social Hour, held at their sister property next door, Homewood Suites. Every Monday through Thursday from 5:30 – 7:30 pm and offers free beer, wine, sodas and hors d'oeuvres.

ROOMS: Rooms have two double beds or one king bed. King study rooms have a queen size sofa sleeper.
