Harvey Penick Golf Campus is a nine hole public course nestled on 112 acres of gentle rolling, heavily wooded hills of east Austin.

Nine hole, par 30. And also a three hole short course. Great practice facilities include driving range, putting and chipping greens. Rates are rock bottom. They cater to young folds. Owned by the First Tee of Greater Austin. Many programs are available for youngsters and family groups.

The course is great for all skill levels. The par 3s are reasonable but still challenging. Not Mo Willy or the back nine at Wolfdancer, but requiring thought and accuracy.

Walnut Creek acts as a natural water hazard. The bunkers aren't rude yet offer the greens protection. Greens vary in size. Most have gentle slopes and undulation.

This is really a comprehensive facility. And it's never crowded!

Unfortunately the course is 35 miles from my home or I would be there daily.

Harvey said, “If you play golf you're my friend.” Here's my advice. If you play golf, make the Penick Golf Campus your friend.

Classes, clinics, individual lessons, great staff, awesome facilities plus they cater to corporate outings, private parties and even family reunions.

Of all the public golf courses I've played on, this is hands down winner for best value.

You get a whole lot for very little here. Up until now this course has been a well kept, little known Austin treasure.

In a nutshell – Great place for young people to learn and improve their game. Be around staff and instructors who believe in the integrity of the game. Scenic, challenging, but fair. Real variety, super fun and great facilities. Cheap, too!

I recommend Harvey Penick Golf Campus for great PGA style golf and family outings.

In addition to the nine hole course, Harvey’s Short Course has three holes. Practice areas overlook Walnut Creek valley, practice putting and chipping greens, driving range.
