Housed in the old Bergstrom Air Force Base strategic air command center used during the Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War and Desert Storm. Fully renovated in 2001. Full service hotel with 262 rooms. The atrium is impressive and the rooms are large and well appointed.

Just what you expect from a king bed room at Hilton.

Outdoor pool, fitness center, bar and restaurants. Twenty-four hour free airport shuttle is two minutes to the passenger terminal.

Parking is an additional charge, so is Internet access and there is no complimentary breakfast at Hilton Austin Airport.

In all honesty, this hotel is out of the way if you have plans that take you downtown or to the Hill Country (west of town).

Compared to other Austin hotels the Hilton Austin Airport is good for what it is. A hotel with the convenience of close proximity to airport terminals.

I can't call this Hilton one of the chains shinning stars, but it is a Hilton and that's what to expect.

I did not find flight noise a problem, but that could be different from room to room.

My biggest concern about this hotel is expense. The rate is significantly higher than neighboring Austin hotels.

Figure in the up-charges and you're paying a lot for convenience if you need to be at the airport. If you don't need to be seven miles from downtown, there are many similarly priced Austin hotels closer to downtown and the action.

Austin Travel Tip: Check out the jogging trail at dusk or dawn. Pretty good thing!
