HILTON GARDEN INN Austin NW/Arboretum Gets High Score As a Business Hotel

Hilton Garden Inn Austin is located close to shopping malls, restaurants and many of Austins corporate headquarters. Hilton Garden Inn Austin NW/Arboretum 11617 Research Blvd. Austin, TX 78759 (512) 241-1600; (800) HILTONS; www.hiltongardeninn.com Easy access and a very central northwest location. Plus shopping and restaurants make this hotel a good choice with two caveats. Traffic around here is laughable during rush hour. You are 15-20 minutes from downtown even with moderate traffic. The hotel itself is outstanding for a Hilton Garden Inn or any extended stay, limited service hotel. Your room is clean, comfortable and not as spartan as many similar hotels.

Roomy, clean and comfortable. The beds are good but not great. Bathroom was large and spotless. Cable TV with premium channels, coffeemaker, refrigerator, dataport, Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet. All the basics. They have an indoor pool, free parking, evening room service and a 24-hour pantry stocked with snacks and beverages. You feel good in this hotel and I'm not sure why. Maybe it's the friendly staff, the inviting lobby. Or maybe it's because this hotel is quiet, laid back and comfortable with itself. Many folks will love the Hilton Garden Inn Austin NW based on instant access to IH-35, Mo-Pac and Hwy. 183. If you plan on spending a lot of time in downtown Austin, this location may not be for you. It puts you in the middle of some heavy rush hour traffic. For me, the hotels appeal is in its unassuming charm. I like clean and this hotel was immaculate when I was there. I didn't care for the on-site restaurant. No big deal because there are plenty of good restaurants close by. There is no complimentary breakfast. But the hotel is 100% smoke free like many Austin hotels. No complaints. No great kudos. Just a simple hotel that should not interfere with a successful Austin travel experience. And if the location is not a problem, just may add to it. Check for special rates. An AAA member I met showed me his room invoice for $80 per night. At $80 per night, not the average $165, the Hilton Garden is a downright steal. Great bargain. For those of you who may not know, AAA stands for American Automobile Association. Best known for their emergency road services and maps and membership travel discounts. A not-for-profit organization. If you do a lot of traveling, check out their list of valuable benefits, save a buck and travel with more confidence; www.aaa.com. Stroll the beautiful shaded grounds, duck into a restaurant for some refreshment, do a little shopping or see a movie.
