Holiday Inn bellied up to the bar and ordered a double shot of much needed updating, cleaning and renovation. Tall hotel with two towers of quest rooms. Capitol Tower and Lake Tower. I stayed in the Lake Tower. Fourteen floors, 319 total guest rooms, including executive suites. Parking is indoor keyed gate and limited outdoor lot, both free to guests. Pets are welcome.

The rooms are unrecognizable from what they were. Spacious, clean and comfortable. However, I think someone had been smoking in my room. Cable, satellite TV, movies and premium channels. Coffeemaker, microwave, small refrigerator, high speed Internet. I didn't like the bathroom. Could be bigger and brighter.

The pool is large and overlooks Lady Bird Lake (Town Lake was renamed Lady Bird Lake in 2007, to honor Lady Bird Johnson). Fitness center, various business services offered.
This view is hard to beat. I love this pool.
My one night visit was plagued by not enough insulation. I could hear every conversation in the hall as well as the basketball game on TV in the room next door. I thought room service was slow and the staff was putting in a days work for a days pay. Other Austin hotels in the price range may serve your needs better. Location is good, but pricey for a Holiday Inn. Even a recently renovated Holiday Inn. And that is the core of this properties problem. It's a Holiday Inn trying to be much more. I'm not panning this old Austin landmark. Lord knows it's given plenty of folks harbor from the storm. But how much would a little sound insulation cost? Noise is a problem. I think it's too expensive. A good Holiday Inn and and OK Austin hotel. LOCATION: Holiday Inn Austin is approximately six miles from Austin Bergstrom International Airport. A lively walk to downtown or short cab ride. Hotel provides free Airport shuttle and local shuttle within one mile radius. HOTEL FACILITIES: - Outdoor Pool
