The Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites may be the exception, depending who you speak to. Parking is free, pets not allowed, 80 suites, in-room microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker. Complimentary Internet access available. Swimming pool, fitness room and free continental breakfast. Depending on the luck of the draw, your room could be clean and spacious or otherwise. I have not stayed at this hotel but as Austin hotels go, I'm of the opinion this Holiday Inn works for a very specific kind of Austin traveler. Don't expect Texana or any kind of uniqueness whatsoever. The staff is not known for attentiveness and it's considered pricey. When I talk to folks who have stayed here I get everything from OK to never again. The never agains usually say they expected more for the money. Those who give it the OK rating are not overly critical folks who consider a good trip one where a mugging doesn't occur. My conclusion about this Holiday Inn Express is simple. It's a Holiday Inn. What more needs to be said? LOCATION: Holiday Inn Express Austin Airport is two miles from Austin Bergstrom International Airport. Around four miles to downtown Austin. Take Hwy. 71 West (left) at airport exit, turn left at Riverside Dr. Take first right onto Metro Center Dr., hotel is on right side. HOTEL FACILITIES: Holiday Inn Express Austin Airport renovated in 2008. Four floors, 80 guest suites, all non-smoking. Single or double bedded suites. The corridor is indoors. Parking lot patrolled nightly from 10 pm to 6 am. Parking spaces available for tour buses and large commercial trucks. Call for more information. The hotel is located in the Met Center Business Park. Walking/jogging track, tennis and basketball courts for all tenants and their guests at the Met Center Business Park (dawn to dusk). - Free Buffet Breakfast daily
