This dependable hotel doesn't get the respect of other downtown hotels and I've never understood why. Located on the banks of Lady Bird Lake, its top floors offer the best views of the city and lake you could want.

This hotel doesn't try to be a theme hotel and that's refreshing. A stream runs through an open atrium lobby. A patio outside the lounge is a wonderful place to sit by the water and relax.

The Hyatt Regency Austin has a local reputation for deeply discounted room rates and exceptional concierge and staff service.

Four hundred forty-six rooms plus 18 suites. Health club,
outdoor pool, two restaurants and two lounges.

Location is within walking distance from the Entertainment District, Capitol Cruises offers various cruises and boat rentals a few steps from the outdoor patio.

Great restaurants like Aussies, Threadgills and Chuy's are close by.

This isn't a spectacular destination hotel. It's a full service, modern hotel that does everything exceptionally well.

Take my advice and get a river view room. It's worth the additional cost. So is the valet parking.

I like the Hyatt Regency Austin, it scores high in all marks. For me, a great hotel experience and I've stayed there 15 times! A good bet for most Austin travelers.

LOCATION: On Congress Ave. just south of Lady Bird Lake. Within walking distance or short cab ride to downtown attractions. You might want to walk to 6th St. and take a cab back.
