Jovita's opened in 1992. Its real name is Jovita's Restaurante y Cantina. Known more for authentic Texas music than its Mexican food.

Jovita's is fun and the quality of talent this Austin club draws is top shelf quality.

Known for its singer / songwriter talent, Jovita's stage has seen local legends Don Walser, Wayne “the train” Hancock, Weary Boys, Derailers, Cornell Hurd, James McMurtry, Flaco Jimenez and the Gourds.

Jovita's is not one of Austin's frantic clubs with 30 minute bar crawls through a mass of UT student flesh. But a relaxed down home atmosphere that reflects the older (not ancient) audiences.

Jovita's is one of many underrated Austin clubs.

Service is usually good unless they are busy. Then it can get a little slow. It's always friendly and courteous.
