Located on Lady Bird Lake and convenient to Austin's ten mile hike and bike trail, the Radisson Hotel Austin location is convenient to all of downtown's points of interest.

This ol' gal has been around the block a few times. Weary, but not worn out. Twelve story, 415 rooms. Pets accepted with restrictions. TGI Friday's restaurant and Starbucks are located on site.

I strongly urge you select a lakeside guest room suite on the seventh floor or higher for best view and the least noise.

An older renovated chain hotel, it is not one of our Austin luxury hotels and shouldn't be considered as such.

There are many amenities including a business center, bell hop service, laundry service and Sleep Number Beds.

Radisson Hotel Austin has a large pool, outdoors and overlooks Lady Bird Lake.

My stay included an argument with the desk personnel and a change of rooms.

I've since talked to many folks who have stayed at the Radisson with mixed experiences. They hate it or like it. Notice I didn't say love it.

I've come to the conclusion that people who visit Austin and don't spend a lot of time in their room fair pretty well at the Radisson.

On the other side of the coin, I've listened to people vent about the lame décor, cheap chain hotel ambiance and a litany of other complaints.

The bottom line is simple. What do you want in your visit? Are you on a leisurely vacation or looking for a place to drop your bags and shower before you go out partying?

Personally, I think the Radisson Hotel Austin location sets off a lot of the other limitations.

However, there is no excuse for a rude, inattentive staff. I waited 45 minutes for a morning pot of coffee.

The Radisson Hotel Austin has baggage, but can be a value if you can get a deeply discounted price on a large lake view suite.

The Radisson Hotel Austin is a crap shoot. Just hope the staff gets up on the right side of the bed during your visit.

One last thing. The Radisson has its share of small rooms. If your room doesn't meet with your reservation description, ask for an upgrade. Chances are one will be available.

Some of the rooms have Sleep Number Beds.
