HOURS: Monday – Thursday, 6:00 am to 9:30 pm. Friday – Saturday, 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. Sunday, 7:00 am to 9:30 pm.

Rudy's BBQ has never impressed me. I dislike my sides served in paper and styrofoam cups.

My early visits to Rudy's disappointed me because their pork ribs tended to be overdone to the point the meat falls off the bone.

Which is an instant disqualification in most all reputable BBQ competitions.

Recently I was at Barton Creek Mall and my friends wanted to eat at Rudy's BBQ (the one on S. Capital of Texas Hwy.).

I begrudgingly went along and ordered brisket and baby back ribs.

To my surprise the brisket was lean, tender and delicious.

Though the ribs are still not my favorite, they were more than satisfactory.

Rudy's BBQ has improved the quality and taste of their food dramatically since my last visit in 2008.

Also, people tell me Rudy's barbecue sauce is fantastic. They sell oceans of the stuff, but I can't comment because I don't use sauce.

Now, if Rudy's BBQ would only stop serving their sides in those damn cups...

Rudy's also has some of the cleanest restrooms of any barbecue restaurant I've visited.

MENU: Available by weight or as a sandwich; brisket, turkey breast, pork loin, chopped beef, spare ribs, baby back ribs, chicken, sausage (regular or jalapeño), Sides; potato salad, cole slaw, pinto beans, new potatoes, green bean salad, corn on the cob, cream corn, jumbo smoked potato. Desserts; banana pudding, chocolate pudding, Rice Krispy Treats, brownies, cake, cobbler, ice cream. Beer, wine, soda, ice tea.
