InterContinental Stephen F Austin Hotel :: $$$$ 701Congress Ave. Austin, TX 78701 (512) 457-8800; (800) 327-0200; www.austin.intercontinental.com I'm partial. I love this hotel. Originally opened in 1924. Vacant for a decade. Renovated in 2000. The InterContinental Stephen F Austin Hotel has returned to her original glory and more. Location is most convenient of all downtown hotels. A few blocks from the State Capitol right in the heart of the downtown office business district.

One bedroom suite at the Stephen F Austin Hotel.
The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Best beds in the city. Like many historic hotels the rooms are on the small side. Unless you choose one of the many spacious suites. Rooms are equipped with multi-line phones, T1 lines and dataports. One hundred and eighty-nine rooms in all, 21 spacious suites, all with a genuine Texas flair. Amenities include a state of the art fitness center. The Roaring Fork American Western restaurant. Indoor lap pool is perfect for the kids and a bar terrace that overlooks Congress Avenue. Stephen F Austin Hotel is expensive. One of a few Austin luxury hotels worth the money. What I truly enjoy about this hotel is the luxury without the snobbish attitude. Great downtown Austin views and the most friendly and efficent conceirge service you could want. Street noise can be a problem. I recommend the Stephen F Austin Hotel because it's an old school, quality hotel. Great location with excellent service. As Austin downtown hotels go, the Stephen F Austin is a refreshing alternative to the ultra modern glass and steel, sterile monoliths that seem to be the city's future. Business or pleasure, the Stephen F Austin Hotel puts you on Austin's main street. Close to all points of interest. Be sure to check out the various packages offered… the Mothers Day brunch is legendary.
