Included here is general aviation information for several airports in Central Texas so you can shop fuel prices for yourself. Signature Austin (Signature Flight Support) and Atlantic Aviation serve Austin Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA). Other FBOs serving central Texas airports include Flightline and Centex Aviation. Signature Austin FBO - The largest fixed base operation in the world. Operating 80 locations in the US and worldwide. Signature Austin offers fuel facilities, oxygen service, aircraft parking (ramp or tie down), hangars, aircraft charters, catering, car rental, courtesy cars. Signature Austin fuels 24 hours a day and offers passenger terminal and lounge. Hangar size is 14,400 sq. ft. With the largest aircraft size being a Falcon 20. Pilot amenities include showers, workout room, locker, lounge, sleep room and big screen TV. Pilot supply shop. Support services include two GPUs. Signature Flight Support (AUS) Atlantic Aviation FBO - Operates 70 FBOs at 65 airports in the US. Atlantic offers similar services to Signature Austin including fuel facility, hangar, weather stations, bedding and showers. Both are modern, well kept, clean, comfortable and service is reliable and prompt. An instrumented 9,000 foot runway is next to both FBOs offering airside access. Hood Regional Airport) - Also known by it's military designation, Robert Gray Army Airfield. Killeen Airport is based at the Ft. Hood military complex and offers daily non-stop commercial flights. American Eagle Airlines – service to Dallas/Ft. Worth (1-800-433-7300) Delta Connection – service to Atlanta (1-800-221-1212) Continental Connection – service to Houston (1-800-525-0280) Killeen Airport and adjacent Skylark Field offer a wide array of general aviation services including all the basics and then some. Two old time Texas airports. Killeen is an army town. Population 100,967. Plenty of hotels, restaurants, car rental, pawn shops and surplus stores. An hour drive to Austin. Approximately three hour drive to Dallas and San Antonio. (1036 X 18 m) runway. FBO service is provided by Centex Aviation. This airport is 100% general aviation and is located about three miles west of Gatesville. The small town of Gatesville is rural, population of 15,591. The town is about 40 miles west of Waco. Gatesville borders Ft. Hood on the north, the Killeen Airport borders Ft. Hood on the south. Expandable to 5000 with instrumental Flight Rules approach. Lampasas has a population of nearly 7,000. Small, friendly Texas town. Thirty miles west of the Killeen Airport. Limited car rental, motel options, but Lampasas has Storm's Drive-in where Elvis ate while serving at Ft. Hood. Deer out number people in Lampasas by 1000 to 1 – not real sure about that number, but deer are noted in and around the vicinity of the airport. (1249.7 X 22.9 m) runway. Many other services available. Convenient location to Austin and Waco. Complete services are plentiful. Car rental, hotel and restaurants. Georgetown is about 30 miles north of Austin on IH-35. Population of nearly 47,000. Heavy deer population in and around airport. Three runways; 6330 ft. (1926 m), 5603 ft. (1708 m), 5213 ft. (1589 m) – all asphalt. Twenty-five miles south of Austin, 45 miles north of San Antonio. Newly installed AWOS. Full airframe and power plant repairs. FBO is Berry Aviation which is full service and open everyday. San Marcos has a population of 41,602. A college town, very scenic. All amenities available. Full general aviation services provided by Fredericksburg FBO. Airport Hangar Hotel and Diner are famous. Three miles southwest of Fredericksburg. Tourist town. Home of the Nimitz Navel Museum, great German food. Not many hotel rooms. Population 10,087. YO Dude Ranch close by. Quaint sleepy little city nestled in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Ninety-five acre track includes second 3240 X 150 ft (988 X 46 m) turf surface runway. No FBO. Deer in the vicinity. Llano population is 3,325. Limited amenities. Check web sight for noise abatement procedures. Deer in abundance. Lakeway is of course a vacation lake community. Golf ground zero. Upscale amenities abound.
