Texas Golf Course APPLE ROCK Is A 4 Star Stunner

Horseshoe Bay Resort's Apple Rock golf course. Every Texas golf course should be this beautiful and challenging. Opened in 1986, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Golf Digest gave it the 'Best New Resort Course' designation. Resting on the shores of Lake LBJ (largest constant level lake in Texas), Apple Rock offers dramatic elevation changes. One hundred forty-seven acres, par 72 and 6,999 yards from the tips. TifEagle greens protected by 56 sand traps. The elevation changes require up hill down hill playing. You will use every club in your bag. Variety is excellent and unusual. Trees, granite creek beds and changing elevation offer natural challenges that are unique for many Texas golf courses. Not flat or links style at all. The high elevation makes for breathtaking views of the Hill Country and resort community. This is straight up golf where the natural terrain dictates the game, course management, club and shot selection. A thinking persons Horseshoe Bay golf course. Driving the ball with accuracy is a must here. Greens are in excellent condition but not as expansive as the country sized gently rolling greens at sister course Slick Rock. Apple Rock is challenging, has great variety and the scenery is pretty as a golden retriever puppy. Service at all of the Horseshoe Bay golf courses is Marriott exceptional. Holes 10 through 12 will have you marveling as you play your way from the highest elevation to the lowest which rests on the shores of Lake LBJ. I've been fortunate to be able to play here frequently. I prefer Horseshoe Bay Golf Resort as a Texas golf vacation destination to Barton Creek Resort. Less people, less money, stay longer, more fun. Simple equation for me. Plus, Horseshoe Bay's golf courses are close to one another. Not miles apart like Barton Creek courses. Apple Rock is a good round. Get sloppy on your drives and it gets as tough as a sows snout. My husband shears the flock at Apple Rock. One of his all time favorite Texas golf courses.
