The Parish in Austin is an important part of the Austin music scene. Very special old school Austin club. Wood floors and acoustically huge sound here would make my singing (ughh) sound good!

The Parish is a SXSW host venue and draws strong indie talent. Established stars, Pete Townsend, Tom Marelo and Slash jammed at the Parish during the 2007 SXSW.

The Parish web site says they are not genre specific. Meaning you can't pigeon hole the Parish with a label like rock or blues club. As Austin clubs go, the Parish has to be commended for booking a wide array of talent.

And that's a real secret of the true nature of what Texas music really is. A gumbo of all styles from ragtime to country. The Austin music scene is lucky to have such a quality room with such a mix of eclectic talent gracing a very intimate stage.

Don't expect world class drink service here. Service can be slow. It's a small price to pay for the absolute joys your ears will be exposed to.

SXSW is a great time to check out the Parish Austin. It has an international reputation so you never know who might show up.
